Birmingham Zoo Travel Guide and Attractions

The Birmingham Zoo is an exciting zoological parked in the Alabama state of North America and home of more than 800 animals and over 2000 species, some of endangered species from six continents.

Today the Zoo is managed under a private non-profit corporation named Patronage Corporation, and also be a member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums. There were many history happened about taking of zoo creation as result the Birmingham Junior Chamber of Commerce and commission established for the zoo. The starting plan was made the zoo for 50 acres land and the place was selected in the Red Mountain’s base, and $250,000 budget was fixed, and converted these lands into park and later named as Lane Park. Since it has used as Zoo and botanical garden.

In order to make better tourist hub the association of Birmingham zoo was taken decision to create “Monkey Island”, the bear moat, the elephant home, the snake hollow, the sea pool and several bird nest. So many people and organize including private donations, public donations, charter memberships, kind donations and many individuals helped to complete exhibits construction inside the zoo.

Earlier the zoon was called as Jimmy Morgan Zoo; the first public exhibition was the Monkey Island. Several efforts and trials were gone; the Birmingham zoo finally turned into biggest exhibits of bats, koalas, dragon, black footed penguins and komodo. The Babec was the first gorilla in the year of 2004 in this beautiful park.
